HIV self-testing has become an established component of differentiated HIV testing services, but its value extends beyond community distribution for occasional testing. Newer use cases can bring testing closer to people, reduce pressure on health workers and connect HIV testing more directly with prevention and treatment. This webinar, presented by WHO and PSI, will examine practical experience with facility-based HIV self-testing, HIV self-testing to support PrEP delivery, and social network approaches that use self-tests to reach sexual partners, injecting partners and other social contacts who may not otherwise test.

The webinar will also review evolving WHO guidance on the role of HIV self-tests within a three-test strategy. It will clarify when a quality-assured HIV self-test may be used as an alternative first test in facilities, including during stock-outs of Assay 1 and other situations authorized by national policy, and the safeguards required to protect the integrity of algorithms.

Each session will be conducted with simultaneous interpretation in English and French.
