What is EXPrESSIVE-11?
EXPrESSIVE-11 is a clinical trial investigating whether a new medication, known as MK-8527, will prevent HIV as well as or better than daily oral PrEP. MK-8527 is an oral pill given once a month to prevent HIV. It was found to be safe and well-tolerated in earlier clinical trials.
Who can participate in EXPrESSIVE-11?
The trial is primarily designed for cisgender men, transgender women, transgender men, and non-binary individuals who have had condomless, receptive anal sex in the past 12 months. Participants must be HIV negative, at least 16 years of age, and physically present at one of the trial site locations. A healthcare professional can determine eligibility.
