FDA approves first drug for reducing the risk of sexually acquired HIV infection

This article from July 16, 2012 announces the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's approval of Truvada (emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate), the first drug approved to reduce the risk of HIV infection in uninfected individuals who are at high risk of HIV infection and who may engage in sexual activity with HIV-infected partners.

Descovy for PrEP

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has reported that they have approved Descovy (emtricitabine 200 mg and tenofovir alafenamide 25 mg) in at-risk adults and adolescents weighing at least 35kg for HIV-1 pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) who at at risk of acquiring HIV.
