Dapivirine vaginal ring for HIV prevention: modelling health outcomes, drug resistance and cost-effectiveness

A vaginal ring containing dapivirine is effective for HIV prevention as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The authors of this article evaluated the potential epidemiological impact and cost-effectiveness of dapivirine vaginal ring PrEP among 22- to 45-year-old women in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

After The Ring Study: DREAM

DREAM, or Dapivirine Ring Extended Access and Monitoring, was a year long open-label extension (OLE) study launched by the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) in 2019 to assess how safe the ring is for the 940 HIV- women who participated in The Ring Study, and explores when, why, and how women use the ring.
